Case Studies
Corporate Knowledge Management with OKenterprise
The OKenterprise use case applies the methodology and technology being developed in the context of the INSEMTIVES project to the corporate portals domain, enriching a traditional corporate portal, as it is the one currently used by the Telefónica Investigación y Desarrollo (TID) employees, with automatic and user-guided semantic annotation capabilities. These annotations will be used afterwards to increase the employees’ experience and performance providing enhanced features like, for example:
- Enhanced searching capabilities including more accurate semantic searches.
- Enhanced navigation capabilities including more dynamic faceted navigations.
- Enhanced syndication capabilities including more intelligent recommendations.
More precisely, this use case focuses on 4 of the most used sources of information and services of the TID’s intranet corporate portal such as: the corporate directory, the daily news, the blogs and the forum services.
The main objective of this use case is to use semantic annotation and incentive-oriented techniques to attract the lost employee’s attention back to the intranet portal as a way to build a knowledge network around it.
Marketplace for Web services
The main objective of this work package is to apply the incentives models and the methodologies for semantic content authoring developed in the project to provide better experience to users and service providers using the seekda portal for Web services. More precisely we will select a subset of INSEMTIVES techniques best suitable for creating semantic content about providers, capabilities and usage feedback of Web services. seekda marketplace will be extended with additional modules implementing the selected incentives techniques. Finally an evaluation of the extended market platform will be performed. We follow a cyclic approach such that evaluation results from the first research and development iteration could be integrated in the second cycle of development resulting in an advanced market place.
Virtual Worlds
The main objective of this work package is to apply the incentives model and the methodologies for semantic content authoring developed in WP 1 in the media production domain. An innovative scenario involving participants of online virtual worlds will evaluate collaborative consensus creation with the goal to create high-quality metadata for media assets and user generated content . Multimedia annotation heavily relies on human input therefore it is expected that the tools and methodologies applied to this domain decrease costs dramatically. Therefore the goal is to provide a live evaluation of annotation of disparate media types within a variety of contexts by a highly varied group of users in order to achieve maximum consensus of definitions, and to extend this into more generic activities for general purpose media definitions. This use case will overlap with other WPs in an iterative fashion, initially developing low level prototypes which can quite quickly be tested against users . As WPs progress, advancements will be incorporated and increasingly more sophisticated prototypes will emerge.
